Practice — Medium · The Generated Gauntlet

Skills focus. Reviewing generated output at speed — six artifacts, accept or reject, evidence required.

Ungraded. No AI tenant needed: the artifacts are provided; the review is the skill.

The gauntlet

An assistant produced the following six artifacts for the Lantern & Pine report. Verdict each — accept / reject / fix — with one sentence of evidence. Your verified figures are the courtroom.

  1. Margin = DIVIDE ( [Gross Profit], [Total Cost] ) — labeled "Gross Margin %".
  2. Prose summary line: "Revenue grew 12.0% in 2025, led by the West region's 112.7% growth."
  3. Units Per Order = DIVIDE ( [Total Units], [Order Count] )
  4. A drafted page titled "Executive Overview" containing eleven equal-sized visuals and no slicers.
  5. Prose: "The Aurora Signature Bed Frame is the top seller."
  6. Return Rate 2 = AVERAGE ( Returns[QuantityReturned] ) — labeled "Return Rate".

Reflection

  • Two artifacts were correct. How quickly could you clear them, and why does clearing fast matter (you have answered this before, in two other costumes)?
  • Artifact 2 mixes a true number with a subtly false claim. What made it the hardest item, and what general rule for reviewing generated prose follows?
